Abandoned Open Concept Mansion (ONLY 20 YEARS OLD!)
This gorgeous open concept mansion was built in the 2000 and was already sold to developers for $6 million, been demolished and a new mansion is being built to replace it.
Thankfully we got to explore before that process started!

Fuerteventura Abandoned Buildings and Developments
During the recession there were a number of developers that went bust leaving unsightly half finished developments. Many of these deserted buildings are, unfortunately, in quite prominent places.
First I show a large hotel development that has stood partly finished for years. It is right opposite the Bahia Real Hotel, one of the nicest hotels in Fuerteventura. Next door to that, right on the beach, is an another abandoned apartment complex.
Next is the Fuerteventura abandoned water park or lido (Lagos de Antigua) which is located right on the coast in Costa de Antigua, just outside Caleta de Fuste.
Lastly I visited probably one of the most well known half-finished building in Fuerteventura which is on the coast road from the airport to Corralejo at Parque Holandes. This has been there for as long as I have been coming to the north of Fuerteventura. Recently it has been occupied, unlawfully I suspect, by a Yoga centre. But I guess at least it is now being used.
Over the years I have seen many comments on Facebook forums etc by people saying Why don't they knock them down as they are an eyesore? Unfortunately they never define who the they should be:
They, the developers, have gone bust so they won't pay for it.
They, the banks that now own them presumably, won't pay to demolish - when do banks ever pay for anything!
They, the local council, won't pay to demolish as the local taxpayers would be up in arms.
They, any future developers, won't buy the plot and incur the huge cost of demolishing when they can buy another empty plot without this expense.

Sitting in the middle of a very affluent neighborhood, this mansion was built in 1959. Information about the family or families that lived in the home is very limited, what is known is that this gorgeous home was sold to developers and will soon be demolished.
