London to Eastbourne, a Bikepacking trip via North Downs, King Alfred's way and the South Downs way.

A three day bikepacking adventure to Eastbourne from south London, almost all off-road via the North downs way, King Alfred's way and the South Downs way.

We were going to camp but the weather forecast was for heavy thunderstorms, so changed to a pub the first night and glamping at the YHA Truleigh hill, the second night.

Is this the LEAST visited place in Norway?

Episode 1 - Stadlandet - Cycling The Atlantic Coast - Norway

In early May 2023, I set off to document Norway's most famous long-distance route. The Atlantic coast, which is part of the Eurovelo 1, is perhaps the most spectacular coastline in the world. This 6 episode series will take you beyond what you may have seen on youtube before. We pull out all the stops to capture this unique area in all its wonder and beauty. Join us for an incredible ride to the Arctic.

Episode 1: We begin this journey in Bergen, where we take Norway's famous coastal liner Hurtigruten up to the small remote town of Måløy. From there, we cycle some of Norway's least visited areas and capture incredible mythical footage of a land on the edge of the world.

Cycling around Eastbourne

It was a sunny Sunday on May 8 when the temperature reached 26 degrees in London. The weather was excellent for cycling all over the UK. We planned to take our bikes and go to the south of England and cycle along the seaside.

Day trip to Seven Sisters from London - Cycling in Seven Sisters, Eastbourne and Cuckmere Haven!

After lockdown I've decided that it is time I start exploring England a bit more, which I clearly haven't done properly in the last 5 years of living here.
Seven Sisters has always been on my top list of things to visit in England, because oh well, England has beautiful white cliffs, and this is one of the most poopular ones!
So here is my day trip to Seven Sisters from London, and my experience of cycling in the high cliffs of Seven Sisters and the Cuckmere Haven. Hint: 20miles in less than 8 hours of exploring.

Hope you guys enjoy it! ❤️️

Long Bike ride out of Eastbourne

Long bike ride over Beachy Head across the Seven Sisters and into Alfriston before heading back to Eastbourne sea front

Beachy Head to Eastbourne Pier

Join me as I hike from Birling Gap (벌링 갭) past Beachy Head (해변의 머리) on to Eastbourne Pier, this 10.8km point-to-point trail near Eastbourne, East Sussex is generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 4 hours to complete.
This is a popular trail for hiking, mountain biking, and walking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day.
The best times to visit this trail are March through October. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

????Bicycle journey from Saltdean to Eastbourne v3.0 (colour correction)

#Saltdean #Brompton #Bicycle

This is an updated clip showing a more detailed route information of the journey from Saltdean to Eastbourne using mostly National Cycle Route #2.

East Sussex is very hilly and beautiful all at the same time, it is not until you cycle around that you truly appreciate its beauty. The terrain is much more hillier than West Sussex.
I hope you enjoyed the film as much as I have enjoyed making it.
If you live locally do get out and explore Sussex, it really is truly beautiful.
If you're abroad, then you're out of luck, and will have to wait till COVID is over, but you can pretty much cycle anywhere right?

Total distance covered is approx 39 miles.
The entire journey took arounb 9.5 hours (with 2.5 hours spent filming the trip).

BTW - Happy Merdeka Day!

South Coast of England - Birling Gap and Seven Sisters

Birling Gap and Seven Sisters are gigantic which chalk cliffs. When we arrived, the tide was out so can see large stones exposed. It really is breath-taking to see this natural beauty.

hello ladies and gentlemen today we are at Birling gap. Behind me you can see Seven Sisters what was quite different is that by the time we've arrived the weather changed dramatically from being super sunny, super warm - cold wind started to blow and before you know it no matter how many layers we had on it was not enough finally I get to touch Seven Sisters themselves, beautiful chalk
cliffs but this is not everything if you look right here you can see these layers of flint stone, this when chalk meets flint stone, it looks like this when we arrived the tide was out all the stones and pebbles were exposed and it contributed to the grandiose scenery with the white chalk cliffs being so close to seven sisters we can't help but marvel at their grandeur, just look at these amazing walls of chalk there are two ways you can get to Birlin gap first one is driving, you can park right next to the cliff and walk down onto the beach, the other way of course is that you can walk it'll just take your shy of two hours to walk from Eastbourne thank you very much for joining me to see Seven Sisters up-close and until next Thursday, bye-bye

Birling Gap Eastbourne

The Ultimate UK Coast Trip just gets better and better - ride along with us and enjoy!

Episode 17 Directions -

We are Jarrod & Esther. We have been riding motorcycles for 40 years. This year we decided to film our ‘adventures’, post them on YouTube for you to enjoy.

In this first adventure we are travelling the coastline of Great Britain, trying to take in as much as possible on the bike while maintaining some progress.

Whether you ride a bike or are 'just along for the ride' please join us as we explore our lovely coastline.

This is part 2 of the day that started at the Cuckoo camp site next to the insecure prison and ended at Brighton where we ended up competing with the half marathon. Stick around and ride with us to the end of the video to find out how far we got this day.

Enjoy as we continue eastwards along the south coast taking in Saltdean, Rottingdean, Peacehaven where we cross the Greenwich Meridian. We travel the South Downs to Newhaven and Seaford where we discover Martello Towers.

When the high-profile aristocrat, gambler and murder-suspect Lord Lucan vanished in 1974, his car was found abandoned in Norman Road, Newhaven, with traces of blood matching the blood-groups of his children’s nanny Sandra Rivett, whom he is believed to have murdered, and his wife who, according to her testimony, he had attempted to murder. The Newhaven location suggested that he had taken the cross-channel ferry, but no confirmed sighting of him was ever made.

The victim’s son, Neil Berriman, is still looking for Lucan and seeking truth and justice. He has a very credible and interesting website,

In 2022 a facial recognition expert claimed he had identified an 87 year old man living in Australia as Lucan. See the link to the University of Bradford in the description.

In the Middle Ages, Seaford was one of the main ports serving Southern England, but the town's fortunes declined due to the coastal erosion that benefitted Newhaven. Persistent raids by French pirates didn’t help either. Between 1350 and 1550, the French burned down the town several times.

In the 16th century, the people of Seaford were known as the cormorants or shags because of their enthusiasm for looting ships wrecked in the bay. Local legend has it that Seaford residents would, on occasion, cause ships to run aground by placing fake harbour lights on the cliffs.

The town formerly had excellent beaches but Newhaven’s efforts to maintain their harbour cut off the constant supply of sand to Seaford. By the 1980s the beach at Seaford had all but vanished, so in 1987 a massive beach replenishment operation was carried out, in which around 1 million tonnes of material was dredged from sandbanks out at sea and deposited on the shore. During a severe storm the same year a substantial amount of the deposited material on the upper part of the beach was washed out back out again. The beach has been topped up several times since then, giving the town a broad beach of sand and shingle.

The Seven Sisters are a series of chalk sea cliffs between Birling Gap to the west and Beachy Head to the east. There are 14 peaks and troughs called brows and bottoms that make up the seven cross sections of ups and downs at the cliff edge. Unlike the White Cliffs of Dover there’s very little development around them and they have been left to naturally erode. This maintains the clean white appearance. Consequently, they are more popular with film makers and photographers and have featured in several movies.

At Beachy Head the road gets very close to the cliff edge. The cliff is the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain, rising to 162 m (531 ft) above sea level. The peak allows views of the south east coast towards Dungeness in the east, and to the Isle of Wight in the west.

There’s a reason why this section lies completely undeveloped. In 1929, just as huge swathes of land were being built on and at a cost of about £100,000 (equivalent to £6.5 million today) Eastbourne bought 4,000 acres of land surrounding Beachy Head to save it from development.
This land became known as the Eastbourne Downland Estate.

Unfortunately, Beachy Head’s high steep cliff has become a magnet for suicides. Estimates of the number of annual deaths at Beachy Head vary from 20 a year to many more.

The Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team conducts regular day and evening patrols of the area in attempts to locate and stop potential cliff jumpers. Workers at the pub and taxi drivers are also on the lookout for people contemplating suicide and there are signs with the telephone number of the Samaritans urging potential jumpers to call them.

We end up at the Camping & Caravanning Club site at Normans bay. We mustered up the energy to ride into Bexhill where we ate out at the Pebbles bistro.

Seven Sisters Cliffs UK | Hike from East Dean to Beachy Head Lighthouse

Visited Seven Sisters last week when England eased the lockdown a bit. The weather was amazing and we used this guide to plan the trip

The guide is super detailed and easy to follow. It took us around 5 hours, because we completed the loop with our own pace and stopped several times for drinks and lunch while enjoying the view.

Pro tip: Try to reach there as early as possible to avoid crowd
We live in South London so we get off early and arrived at East Dean at around 8:00AM.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Seven Sisters are part of a magnificent stretch of coastline between Seaford and Eastbourne, including Beachy Head beauty spot and these photos show them at their finest. The area is designated and protected as a 'Heritage Coast' and is the finest example of unprotected chalk cliffs in Britain.

The names of the cliffs from west to east are: Haven Brow, Short Brow, Rough Brow, Brass Point, Flagstaff Brow, Bailey's Hill and Went Hill. The reason for why they were so named remains obscure

Savage Winds on Cliffs! South Downs Way 100 Mile Hike Final! Ep. 6 Seaford (Alfriston) to Eastbourne. I walked the Seven Sisters from Seaford. Tried to cross the estuary but then had to walk around it taking one hour. I mention Bill Bryson’s Little Dribbling book cover and the actual view of the cottages. The wind was very dangerous please don’t go near the cliff edges. I saw a boyfriend of a couple stand right on the edge of the cliff to impress his girlfriend. So glad he did not fall but so crazy. I am so happy to finish the 100 mile hike! Please see the other 5 parts on my channel. I hope this inspires you to try hiking the South Downs Way or some other walk.
