TUI Boeing 757 Comes into Land SIDEWAYS in 40 KNOT CROSSWIND at Bristol Airport During a STORM
Strong winds blowing directly across the runway at Bristol Airport on the 12th October 2018 due to Storm Callum caused this TUI Airways Boeing 757-200 aircraft to come in nearly sideways. Aircraft need to compensate for the crosswind otherwise they will be blown off course, they do this by pointing their nose into the direction the wind is coming from, demonstrated perfectly by this crew. It is always fascinating to watch planes landing in strong crosswinds; the power of mother nature vs the skill and professionalism of the brilliant airline pilots.

Crosswind difficulties - Worst conditions in history!
Some landing and take-off highlights in awkward wind conditions at BHX this winter (a record winter for stormy conditions in the UK). Note the frequent flexing of the planes' wings in response to the turbulence.
Of the five missed approaches shown, three diverted to other airports, two were go arounds and landed successfully on second attempt.

One of the most intense moments I've ever experienced in aviation. Arriving at London Heathrow Airport (RWY27L) during #StormImogen Over 60mph winds battering southern England clearly took its toll on my flight. This was Swiss Air Airbus A321 (HB-IOK) flight LX332 from Zurich, was scheduled to arrive at 13:00 but due to ATC restrictions in the extreme weather was delayed by just short of 2 hours. If I said I wasn't hoping for the flight to make an aborted landing I'd be lying because it is exciting. However I wasn't quite expecting to be thrown violently left & right just above the runway, before slamming down, bouncing and then climbing away again. Got a bit more than I bargained for, was absolutely terrifying for everyone onboard. The captain did announce that the Missed Approach was due to a sudden gust of wind. Must take my hat off to them both in the flight deck for displaying some incredible skill and their fantastic quick reactions at getting the plane back off the ground & into safety immediately.
We did then circle for a few minutes and re-entered the approach and landed safely the second time around without further incident.
I wasn't even booked onto this flight. Was due to fly to London City but that flight was cancelled because of the storm and I was rebooked onto this one.

62 mph Crosswind in Close-up: Storm Doris
DescThe strongest gusting I have filmed in - up to 62 mph/54 knots - made 23 February 2017 unique for me. Plenty of heavy wing flexing, furious flicking of control surfaces, and a near tail strike, making a great opportunity to see in detail how planes and pilots handled the unusually difficult conditions.

Both a touch-and-go landing and a low pass are types of go-around. An unplanned touch-and-go landing is also called a rejected landing or balked landing.
Touch-and-go landings can perform a crucial safety role when a plane lands with not enough space to come to a complete stop, but has enough space to accelerate and take off again.

Left wing touched the runway. Crazy. Hard and dangerous. Funny landing. Storm Emma 2008 in Germany (Hamburg EDDH). After the landing the left wing was destroyed. This first landing was a wingstrike. Dangerous Crosswind Landings During A Storm || Aborted Landings || Plane Spotting
These were the most epic crosswind landings of 2019 and I decided to edit a ranked video of the most amazing crosswind landings. I included the crazy Airbus A380 go around at Amsterdam Schiphol and the Boeing 747 of KLM which almost touched the ground with engine number 4 after fighting with 40 knots crosswind from the south.
But my personal highlight of the year was the crosswind landing of the Antonov An-124 of Volga Dnepr which touched down with the front gear. Watching such a massive plane with the main gears in the air while the front gear already slided above the ground was a breatheaking moment and the most amazing aviation moment of 2019 for me.

I really hope that you like this video, I will post longer videos from here as I upload them. Finding this location and climbing was a challenge that paid off I think. It's rare that Osaka Itami uses Runway 14 for landings so I think I was lucky to get up there in time to capture these incredible landings. The pilots have great skill for these difficult approaches to the airport. We also had a crosswind so it makes it even more difficult. This video is complete with Air Traffic Control Audio (ATC). KLM B777 approach rather rough plane rolls from left to right. just before the runway hit a dangerous roll to the right.
Summer storm in the Netherlands. Schiphol had many problems with processing all in and outbound flights.
