Isle of Pines and Mare | Exploring New Caledonia
Hey everyone, I went on holidays again, this time on a cruise to New Caledonia with Jalayne, Casey and Jordy. There are literally no words to describe how amazing it was.
This is part 2 of the cruise series, showing all the fun we had on the islands of Mare and the Isle of Pines!

Lifou Island, New Caledonia | Carnival Luminosa 2023
Cruising on the Carnival Luminosa was great! But, visiting our first port
Lifou Island, part of the Loyalty Islands of New Caledonia was amazing! This wasn't our first visit to this island but it was just as beautiful as ever.
Make sure you take your snorkel gear. If you're lucky, you'll get to see one of the sea turtles that frequent the area. When we walked off the pier, we turned right and followed the path as far as we could go. We think it is the best beach within walking distance.
After a refreshing swim and a chat with the locals we headed back towards the pier and headed up to the main market area where there are local tours, demonstrations, places to eat and have a drink or two.

Last but the best island in the New Caledonia. Linc & Ed tried snorkeling and exploring the crystal water of this island. Truly mesmerizing!
The family embarked on a shore excursion after swimming for an hour which made the boys tired therefore, missing half of the adventure.
After the excursion, we had the whole afternoon swimming and playing on the shores.
We learned that haircut was affordable so we booked the boys in and even Linc went for it! How did that happen?
We were too sad to head back to Australia.

Our Best Ways to See Noumea Without Booking A Shore Tour.
We have visited Noumea before and as our booked tour to Amadee Island was cancelled that morning we decided to get off the ship and tell you what we think are the best ways to see Noumea without booking a shore tour. Although you can also do these through ship they do cost a bit more.
We would make our usual warning though that if you are not back at the ship on time, it will not wait for you.
Because we didn't leave the ship until later (trying to find another shore tour to go on) we didn't have enough time to visit the main attractions this time. We will be back in Noumea soon though and will put together a video of some of the great places to go that we mention here, and some more.
It was also the first time we had visited Noumea where we needed to use the industrial port rather than the cruise terminal so it was good to see what the journey into town is like and how long it takes.

Our Cruise to New Caledonia
On this cruise we sailed out of Sydney Harbour for 8 nights and stopped at Noumea, Lifou and Isle of Pines in New Caledonia before returning back to Sydney which we spent our final night in Sydney before returning to our home town in Brisbane.

Our 9 night cruise aboard the Carnival Spirit took us from Sydney Australia around New Caledonia including Noumea, Mare, Lifou, Isle Of Pines, and back to Sydney again.
Welcome to Maré, New Caledonia
Lined with lucious coconut trees, Maré has some local stalls offering snacks, drinks and souvenirs however if the beach is calling your name, Yelele Beach has been known to be one of the most beautiful. Perfect for snorkelling and crystal clear waters, be sure to not miss out on this wonderful sight!
Due to New Caledonia’s semi-tropical climate, it is mostly warm with comfortable temperatures all year round with the occasional rainstorm. The temperatures average around the mid 20s. It is always recommended to take a hat, water bottle and sunscreen. To access Mare, the cruise ship will anchor out at sea close to shore then a tender boat, a small enclosed boat, will ferry you to the nearby jetty. Be sure to note what time you are required back so you don’t miss the ship!

So i took a cruise with Carnival Spirit to New Caledonia (Isle of Pines, Mare and Noumea) and it changed my outlook on the world, from islands to people dancing to drinking from fresh coconuts I had just grabbed from a tree, everything about this trip was amazing! I met some amazing people and this is the story of that trip.
