Cruise Ships in a Storm! First time Cruiser Tips Drink Package Yes/No Spa Deals and more Live Q/A Today I talked about how the Atmosphere on a cruise ship changes from day 1 to the last day. Oh how exciting it is to get to the ship on day one and oh my what a downer it is on the second to last day when all those suitcases are standing in the hall way ready for their pickup by the staff to be taken off the ship the next morning. The sad fact is that we all have to get off this great vessel and go back to our regular lives again. As they say the party is really over. We discussed how a cruise ship handles a nasty storm and how the ship can take of a pounding than the passangers can. Cruise lines try to avoid a storm or at least minize the effects of the waves and wind by slowing the ship down to ease the effects of the sea. But a ship must get to it's home port or next destination on time or passangers will miss flights home or shore excutions like weddings.... Why passangers stay on cruise ships when they reach a port? If 1800 out of 2400 passengers leave a cruise when it is at a port, the remaining passengers have the ship to themselves. This works out very well in the spa area and pool decks. Plus there are usually discounts on services on board when a ship is in port. What is a muster drill? What was it like on board an ocean liner back in the 1950's and 60's compared with today? Are drink packages a good deal? And more!
