Travel Guide to Lesotho

Travel Guide to Lesotho

►Read the blog:

In this episode I take you to the the Sky Kingdom of Lesotho, the highest country in Africa. This country has the highest low point on earth.

The entire country is 1000 meters above sea level. It's located about 7 hours drive south of Johannesburg and 5 hours west of Durban. For the next 72 hours I am going to be showing you what to see and do in Lesotho!

This is Semonkong the horse capital of Lesotho. It's located in the central part of the country. Right now we are going to walk around the market and buy a typical beanie follow me. Follow me lets go shopping!

After a bit of a negotiating I got three for 100 Rand. The beanies are made out of wool and it's the most traditional thing you can buy.

Welcome to Semonkong Lodge! If you're looking to explore central Lesotho this is the place to stay. They have a restaurant, 25 rooms and they are very close to Maletsunyane Fall's the highest single drop waterfall in the southern hemisphere. You can go pony trekking and explore Semonkong.

Next up we head to Maliba Lodge on the northern side of Lesotho. They have 6 chalets and 4 river chalets. A few different activities you can do in the area are horseback riding, village tour and a massage. They have heated floors, beds and wife.

We head out on horseback for a two hour trek in the mountains of Tsehlanyane National Park. After an incredible trek we head to the near by village of Hamadi to experience local life. At the local bar I tried some Lesotho beer which was bitter but traditional :)

About Me //
I am 25, from Marietta, Georgia and I started this channel in 2013 in my final semester of my college. After graduating from Auburn University in Alabama I spent four months in Europe and tried my hand at vloging. You can watch the whole series here and forgive me for filming it on my iPhone. Right after traveling I moved to DC where I lived for two years. Last summer I backpacked through Central America and produced a 10 part vlog series about that as well. I currently am traveling on World Race. The World Race is an 11 month mission trip to 11 countries. I post videos almost every day, so subscribe and stay a while if you want to see more.

Fun with Maps – Lesotho

In this episode of Fun with Maps we take a look at one of only 3 enclaved countries in the world - Lesotho. By enclaved we mean an independent country whose territory is completely surrounded by the territory of one other country. In Lesotho’s case, it is within South Africa. Lesotho is a unique and interesting country and the map really defines it. Did you know that the country of Wakanda in the Marvel superhero movie Black Panther was inspired by Lesotho? There’s lots more interesting items about Lesotho. Keep having Fun with Maps. See more at

Attempt to ride Sani Pass on a Honda CRF250L - it's HECTIC!! [S5 - Eps. 14]

In this episode I am attempting to scale the hardest mountain pass of South Africa: Sani Pass. Right at the border between South Africa and Lesotho lies this pass, and it is not for the faint hearted. These were the steepest, most washed away tracks I've ever attempted and without the option to slow down or pause, it was an adrenaline filled race to the top. HECTIC!

To round out the best year of my life, I’m spending the last two months of 2022 exploring nine countries across southern Africa. After the roadtrip ended, Nikias flew home, and I spent a week processing and resting in JoBurg, before it was time for my next adventure to the tiny little landlocked country of Lesotho, the Kingdom in the Sky.

Overlanding Africa - Month 1 - South Africa / Lesotho (Lifejourney4two)

Overlanding Africa in a long term travel capacity involved us buying our own 4wd bush camper with a tent on top, in South Africa. This camping travel style suits those that like to drive their own agenda. Whether it be a national park visit, an overland Africa safari trip or many of the beautiful sights of Africa, you pick the when and the where.
As a foreigner buying a 4wd bush camper this isn't a straight forward process but it can be accomplished. Check out the link below to find out how we managed it. Now with our Toyota Hilux, we completed 2 weeks of vehicle modifications to have it suit our needs. We then drove the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve near Johannesburg and made our way to Golden Gate National Park just to the north of Lesotho. Entering Lesotho, we continued across the mountain kingdom and down the iconic Sani Pass. Meandering south and back towards Cape Town, we drove the Garden Route visiting the renowned Addo Elephant National Park on the way. A busy but rewarding month of travel!

Lesotho

Situated in the middle of Southern Africa, Lesotho is known as the Kingdom in the Sky because of its lofty altitude - it has the highest lowest point of any country in the world (1400m) and is the only country to be entirely above 1000m. Taking a short internal flight from Johannesburg to Maseru, Lesotho's capital, Toby drives to the starting point for his adventure - the Malealea Lodge.

I'm Santos, and this is my channel - Travelista. As the name suggests A travelista is like a fashionista -but for travel. The fashionista is always up on the latest fashion trends and always looks top-notch. The travelista is always traveling to some new and exotic locale and is not dissuaded by any world turmoil or even wars. for example, the travelista will go to an exotic resort nestled in the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Arab spring? according to the travelista, this is the best time to travel to northern Africa. it is more exciting that way! traditional European cities are old hat to the travelista.

And About me, im a passionate traveler from Kerala (Gods own country) in India. I am a day dreamer and has built an inevitable desire to travel the world. I have visited more than 24 countries during my life when i was at merchant navy. I have offboarded the vessel with a great desire to travel. As a YouTube vlogger, i started the carrier with a bicycle and roamed in and around Thrissur (native place) with my Gopro camera and shot the places which made me viral. The channel grew very fast earning subscribers, making me to think of an all India Travel. I started a vanlife, which was similar to European or western van life culture and finished an All India trip with my two friends, Binoy and Lisshoy. We altered a Force Tempo traveler into a traveling home and named him Kapitan - the ship captain . We have covered almost most of the places in India main land with our beloved Kapitan, had done video's about India's villages, peoples, landscapes, rivers and so on. We were also permitted by the Ministry of Defense of India to shoot several episodes with Indian Army (Border Security Force) and have touched LOC (Line of Control) at Pakistan, which was a great honor for us, and made Travelista apart from other travel vloggers in India.

in this new season, i  have started a solo trip to Africa via Dubai, covered certain places in Arab. My travel has reached African continent from Asia and next few days i ll be covering African countries such as Zimbabwe, Kenya, etc.; One of my bucket list item is the great migration of Masai Mara.....Yes, please wait for the video's.

AfriSki Lesotho, Learn to Ski package Guide July 2022

Afriski has established itself as a top skiing and snowboarding destination. Situated 3 222m above sea level, high up in Lesotho's Maloti mountains, the resort is one of only a few ski resorts on the African continent.

There are a number of chalets and other forms of accommodation at Afriski, and the clientele is a mix of seasonal residents and first-time visitors. Various ski and snowboarding competitions are held at Afriski in the winter months, attracting many top international competitors.

A good time to visit is towards the end of July, when the snow is at its thickest and the school holiday rush is over. This is also the nest time for natural snowfalls.

It is now compulsory for all novices to take at least one 4-hour lesson before they are allowed on the slopes, to avoid unnecessary accidents. The ski school has local and international instructors available throughout the ski season to teach alpine skiing and snowboarding.

It is advisable to book lessons in advance during busy times, such as early June when most South African schools are on holiday. Lessons can also be booked at the instructors' office on arrival.

As important as the skiing, is the after skiing fun, with plenty of hilarity in the bar or pub at Afriski. One of the highlights is the ‘snowboard challenge’ whereby a snowboard is attached to the roof of the bar at Afriski and it is a popular tradition for guests to see how many shooters they can manage to down while hanging upside down from the snowboard. You have to be there to experience the fall down laughter it generates.

In the summer months, the resort welcomes mountain bikers, trail-runners, fly fishermen as well as ensure and off-road enthusiasts
