The magical, majestic, Heaven’s Gate China on Tianmen Mountain. It’s not just the mountain itself that is an experience. Getting up is one thing but getting down is actually considered to be one of the most dangerous experiences in China on Big Gate Road.
You can only use the cable car up or down. You can’t use it both ways. That made me wonder -how the hell do u get down.
This cable car from Zhangiagie City to Tianmen Mountain is the longest in the world and has 98 cars and a total length of 7,455 m . The highest gradient is of the cable 37 degrees.
The word Tianmen means Heaven's Gate. At the top, the main attraction is Tianmen cave, a natural arch in the mountain 131.5 m high.
Believe it or not, skydivers have flown through the cave and even fighter jets.
There are surprisingly many other attractions up the mountain not just heavens gate. Even another glass bridge.
Nine is a lucky number in Chinese numerology, There are around 999 steps to get down, considered a stairway to heavens . Or in this case a stairway out of heaven. Two words come to mind- very steep.
With 99 curves, Tongtian Highway is considered to be one of China’s most dangerous roads. I didn’t actually know this at the time...

The scariest terrifying glass skywalk in the world, popularly known as, Coiling Dragon Path/cliff skywalk is situated on a side of Tianman mountain in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in Hunan province, China. The skywalk overlooks by its bottomed giant glasses, the world's famous Heaven's Gate and Tongtian Avenue, the mountain road with 99 turns. The world's longest cable car system is also served on Tianman mountain to access its terrifying Coiling Dragon Cliff skywalk where situated in the highest location of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, China.

The World's Most Beautiful Mountain?: Tianmen Mountain | Zhangjiajie, Hunan, China - HeyOby
In this video, I go to one of the world's most beautiful mountains, Tianmen Mountain or Tianmenshan, to explore the mountain and experience the glass skywalk there made popular through viral videos of Chinese people being terrified to cross it. Tianmen Mountain features the world's longest cable car ride (30 minutes!), the 99 Bends Road (a road with 99 bends in it lol), a cliff-hanging walkway and glass skywalk, as well as the Stairway to Heaven (999 steps of pure pleasure or pain depending on your fitness level).
Directions to Tianmen Mountain: The mountain is located right in the Zhangjiajie city center near the Zhangjiajie Railway Station. You can easily take an affordable taxi ride or bus to the ticket office/cable car entrance.

Tianmen Mountain, in Zhangjiajie is beautiful. With many different sights to see, the longest cable car in the world, glass walkways hanging out from the mountain side, 999 steps up towards heavens gate and the bus ride with 99 hair pin turns it's a lot for one day. Special thanks to Sarah and Sally for coming with us and starring in this video. We had a blast with you - especially making fun of Chinese woman poses!

Glass Skywalk in the Tianmen Mountain. The glass skywalk in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in the Tianmen Mountain, China, seems especially built for the fearless. But walking on this incredible pathway, suspended 1,430 meters high up in the air (about 4 691.6 feet) is also 6,35 centimeters thick (2.5 inches), making it safe for the avalanche of tourists. The skywalk is situated 4,700ft above sea level on the side of the Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie, China. The 200ft long bridge joins the west cliff at the Yunmeng Fairy Summit, the summit of Tianmen Mountain and Zhang Jiajie. And it would appear to be too scary for the cleaners - tourists are asked to put on shoe covers before passing to help keep the path clean. The pathway, built earlier in the summer echoes the glass-bottomed walkway at the Grand Canyon in the U.S. The 70ft bridge is 4,000ft above the natural wonder and allows tourists to look through 2.5in of crystal-clear glass to the Canyon floor below. The Tianmen mountain, literally translated as Heavenly Gate Mountain is so called because of a huge natural cave that occurs halfway up to the summit.

The Big Gate Road, Tianmen Mountain - The Heaven Linking Road, China The Big Gate Road also known as heaven linking road, located in the National Park of Tianmenshan, in the Hunan province of China. The Heaven linking road rather this is most dangerous road in China. It starts south of Zhangjiajie city 200 meters above sea level and rises to 1,300 meters, with 99 blind turns, Sure, this increases the chances that you might end up in heaven in your car. It is little wonder then that the road which was started in 1998 took eight years to complete. Its twists and turns are certainly not for the faint hearted. The road climbs Tianmen Mountain just south of Zhangjiajie City (which was previously called Dayong) is very much the must see scenic area in Hunan.
It is also called the road of 99 turns – nine is a lucky number in China as it symbolizes that heaven has nine palaces. If the road is a little too scary for you, there is an alternative. A cable car goes from of Zhangjiajie City to the top of Tianmen Mountain. Sounds like out of the frying pan and in to the fire – the cable-way is 7455 meters in length making it, so the Chinese claim, the longest in the world.

China has opened a 100-metre-long glass skywalk stretching around a cliff on the side of the Tianmen Mountain in Hunan province. The skywalk provides a view of a 300-metre drop and overlooks Tongtian Avenue, a mountain road with 99 turns that snakes up the mountain. When translated in English, it means “Avenue to the Sky”. The 1.6-metre wide glass-floored skywalk has been dubbed “Coiling Dragon Cliff” and is the third of its kind in the area. The area is incredibly popular with tourists and has a range of attractions including a cable car that transports people from the nearby train station to the top of the mountain.

The Tianmen Mountain is just about 1500 m. height but it has a great value for Chinese people as it is since many centuries a holly mountain.
On the way up you have to climb the Stairways to Heaven to admire the magnificent Tianmen Cave or Heavens Gate. On the top platform amon clifs and glass walks there is a Buddhist Temple built during the Tang Dynasty.
Another way up is the longest cable car in the world that takes you from the heart of Zhangjiajie 7500m to the top of the mountain
