Belize—8 Days of Exploring, from Rainforest to Reef

Belize, From Rainforest to Reef!! Belize had been on our bucket list for a while, and this past August, we finally got a chance to visit!

We trekked through Mayan Ruins, tubed through underground rivers and hiked and swam through pitch dark caves (with Jaguar Paw Cave Tubing and Jungle Zipline Expeditions.), zip-lined through rainforest canopies (Bocawina Rainforest Resort & Adventures), Hiked along countless trails, swam beneath roaring waterfalls, went island hopping along the Belize Barrier Reef, and snorkeled through a UNESCO World Heritage reef complex with Sunny Side Tours.

We also spotted some of Belize's top wildlife, hung out with dozens of green iguanas (Green Iguana Conservation Project), crafted chocolate using traditional Mayan techniques at AJAW Chocolate LTD, and observed the coral reef restoration efforts of Fragments of Hope, Belize.
We spent 4 days in the rainforest, where we stayed at San Ignacio Resort Hotel, and 4 days on the coast in Placencia, where we stayed at Chabil Mar Belize Resort.

We went during the low season, during a period in August known locally as little dry, where there is a lull in the rainy season. Other than a few brief showers on 3 out of our eight days, we had beautiful weather! Although it was humid, it was more pleasant than our summers along the East Coast of the US.

The Don'ts of Travel Playlist:

The Shocks of Travel Playlist:

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

Belize has some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in the world, which may be the primary reason the country is on your bucket list. Coral and marine life is rich and diverse since it is home to the second-longest barrier reef in the world (after the one in Australia). Off the coast, there is a gigantic circular sinkhole known as The Great Blue Hole that is 354 feet (108 meters) deep and 984 feet (300 meters) broad. Although it's intended for seasoned divers, beginners can reserve a helicopter trip for an incredible aerial view.
