Recorded on a day with medium pax occupancy. Early right turn to HDG 180 occurred rather gentle. Hopefully soon a vid at maximum performance Take-Off weight.

Here I edited 2 different Landings in St.Maarten (SXM) videos showing the gusty effect of the Tradewinds. Every year just like the Monsoon, we have the KWARISMA-Special.
This North-Easterly wind picks up speed, and become very gusty. Just happen to have 2 recordings of same crew and same plane doing exactly the same Landing. You can clearly see the big control input required to maintain the steady approach and Landing.

A lot of discussions are held on the headline. No there are no rockets on this Video! Rocket takeoff means that the takeoff-run was very short and the climb rate was very high due to the fact that the aircraft was very light. Normally a Boeing 747-400 serves long haul routes with a lot of fuel on board on takeoff. In this regular case it needs a much longer takeoff-run. On rather rare short flights like the 1 hour flight form St. Maarten to Curacao, the aircraft is pretty light as it doesn t need much fuel. This is why it accelerates very fast and can climb very steep, other than on regular typical B747 Long Haul Takeoff procedures. Thanks for watching.

So, no doubt the 747s and A340s are the biggest to land and takeoff at SXM.
But, it´s definitely the MD80 from InselAir that makes the people at Maho Beach go nuts!
Pilots wave to us, accelerate the engines for seconds before it starts moving just to make the takoff even more awesome!
PS: The blond chubby guy is just my cousin excited with the blast!

This is our 4th film at an airport we've been visiting for nearly 20 years and it remains very popular with all aviation enthusiasts! The sad thing is this is likely the last time we were able to capture the 747 in action here as the island is no longer served by the Queen of the Skies On a happier note for the first time we've included 2 other amazing little airports : Saba and St Barth's with the shortest runway and a runway down a hill so some really spectacular action from those 2 airports.
In total the program is 4 and a half hours long and you will get fantastic action from some of the most beautiful locations at St Maarten from right down near the action on the beach, the side of the runway, the end of the runway, across the water from up in the mountains. Don't miss this one!
