About Nuuk: Nuuk is the capital and largest city of Greenland. It is the seat of government and the countrys largest cultural and economic centre. The major cities closest to the capital are Iqaluit and St. Johns in Canada and Reykjavík in Iceland. Nuuk contains almost a third of Greenlands population and its tallest building. Nuuk is also the seat of government for the Sermersooq municipality. This time from the passenger seat,. We approaching Kangerlussuaq airport in Greenland after our flight from Copenhagen.
The landscape is just breathtaking.
Sorry for the bad quality, was in 2012 and I havent had a proper camera or phone back then to film... ;-)
The World's Strangest International Airport - Kangerlussuaq, Greenland (Cultural Travel Guide)
Kangerlussuaq has a fascinating history and an uncertain future. The former US airbase of Sondrestrom is currently the hub of Air Greenland's network and the only airport in the country that can accommodate the Airbus A330 that flies the daily lifeline link to Copenhagen. A small town of around 500 people services the airport, far from the major urban centres of Greenland. Local tour operators provide options for transiting passengers that include searching for musk oxen and driving to the ice cap. However, all that is about to change as new international airports are scheduled to open in Nuuk and Ilulissat in 2024. The future for Kangerlussuaq's airport and, more importantly, for its residents, is very much in doubt.

JustPlanes on the Flightdeck of the AIR GREENLAND Dash 8 all around the beautiful country of Greenland. In this case we're on a flight from Kangerlussuaq, the airline's main hub to Ilulisaat.
In 2003 we first visited Air Greenland to feature its fleet of A330, B757, S-61 & the rare Dash 7. Today the airline employs a fleet of Dash 8 and we're delighted to return to this beautiful country for a new film with a series of great pilots flying in a challenging environment.

Beautiful Winter Flying in the COCKPIT of AIR GREENLAND
JustPlanes first visited AIR GREENLAND exactly 15 years ago, at the time the Dash 7 was filmed along with the A330, B757 and Helicopter. The 2003 Cockpit Film is being released today as well for half the price however we're delighted to return to this beautiful country for a new Cockpit Film on the Dash8!
The new program is 4h30mins long, includes flights to 7 cities in Greenland, lots and lots of presentations by its pilots and some beautiful views. The program does not include any music at all, just sounds from the cockpit and pilots!

The Airbus taking of in Kangerlussuaq. We have moved some so now you can also see the apron with a couple of dhc-7´s standing. You can also see three C-130´s in the upper corner of the picture later. Those are USAF skier team training ice landings and takeoffs on camp Raven among some places.

Me filming the Airbus landing. I had to zoom pretty much and i did not look into the camera, thats why the picture is so shaky. Sorry about that. We were located about 350m above the runway att kokkenfjall(kitchenmountain, köksfjället). A very nice view.
