American Samoa: A tropical paradise with a modern twist!

Very remote (it takes a day and half of flying to reach these islands from Sydney), American Samoa is a spectacle of volcanic mountains towering against a backdrop of electric-blue seas and lush tropical forests. The island infrastructure is well-developed but finding a long stretch of beach to oneself or a left break to surf is as easy as falling asleep on a hammock. Reason: these islands are yet to become touristy. Snorkelling, diving, hiking, adventure sports, cultural tours – American Samoa offers a huge number of activities for international travellers and is a pristine eco-tourism haven.

Island Hop the Pacific National Parks: American Samoa, Hawaii Volcanoes & Haleakala

Chimani Releases Individual Free Mobile App Travel Guides For Hawaii Volcanoes, Haleakala, and National Park of American Samoa

App developer seeks to help reduce waste by replacing traditional park guides with mobile apps

Portland, Maine – Chimani, Inc., in partnership with Subaru of America, has announced the launch of 59 mobile app travel guides – one for each of the 59 iconic national parks, including each of Pacific's iconic national park destinations – in celebration of the 2016 National Park Service Centennial.

The national park apps by Chimani not only serve as a powerful park navigation tool to help visitors explore some of the country’s most beautiful areas, but also eliminate wasteful paper guides that end up in waste landfills. Subaru has partnered with Chimani to support the development of these new apps and to help educate visitors on the importance of reducing waste in national parks.

“We began developing the national park apps in 2010 to address the need for better access to park information, while also understanding the cellular connectivity issue most parks face,” said Kerry Gallivan, CEO and Co-Founder of Chimani, Inc. “Each of our national park apps includes curated, original content covering hiking trails and unique points of interest, park facilities, and more; along with GPS-enabled maps that work without a cell or Wi-Fi connection.”

“We’re extremely excited to release the free apps for American Samoa, Hawaii Volcanoes, and Haleakala national parks” said Gallivan. “Our tremendous partners at Subaru have lead the way for waste reduction in parks, and by replacing paper travel guides, Chimani will help them accomplish this goal.”

Subaru, a premier partner of the National Park Service Centennial, is deeply committed to protecting the environment and helping keep U.S. national parks beautiful. The company operates the first automotive assembly plant in America designated as zero landfill (Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc.), which has also been named a Backyard Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. Subaru is sharing its zero landfill expertise to help the national parks find ways to reduce waste and educate consumers on how they can help.

“As we enter the one hundredth year of the national parks, Subaru remains as committed as ever to help park visitors make the most of their trips to our national treasures, while also educating them on the need to keep them clean and beautiful for the next generation,” said Alan Bethke, senior vice president of marketing at Subaru of America. “Chimani is a terrific partner that offers Subaru the opportunity to do both through their new national park apps.”

Each of the 59 national park apps and the flagship National Parks app by Chimani, which includes an overview of all 412 national parks, are available for free download in the App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore.

SAMOA: Stunning Saleaula Lava Fields in SAVAII, let's walk on the lava!

Savaii island, Samoa, Pacific Ocean - the lava fields on Savaii island in Samoa. Let's go visit the world famous lava fields of Sale'aula in the majestic Samoan island of Samoa. We will also visit a destroyed church from the volcanic explosions between 1905 and 1911.
Sale'aula is a village on the central north coast of Savai'i island in Samoa and is the traditional center of the Gaga'emauga political district. Volcanic eruptions of Mt Matavanu (1905 - 1911) in central Savai'i swept northwards towards the coast and destroyed villages in its path.
The lava flowed over 40 square miles (100 km2) of countryside to the sea and also destroyed another village Salago. The depth of the lava flow in some parts was 400 feet. A Catholic church and a meetinghouse of the LDS Church were also buried. Sale'aula land was covered by lava that reached other villages to the east including Mauga and Samalae'ulu.

PALAGI BEACH - LOW TIDE ADVENTURES | CAPE TAPUTAPU - CAN'T GET ANY FURTHER WEST in AMERICAN SAMOA

We're joined by our friends the Daskam's on our adventure today, as we hike along the western shoreline of Tutuila to find Palagi Beach. This super remote and completely isolated beach is basically the furthest west you can go before leaving the islands that make up American Samoa.

The trail to get to Palagi Beach is only accessible at low tide and is still treacherous with slippery and sharp rocks, steep eroded bits, and crashing waves, but the payoff at the end is totally worth it!

We had a great day, carefully making our way to Palagi Beach, then enjoying this little slice of paradise with our friends.

When are you going to go check it out?

American Samoa - A Travel To American Samoa to see best places of American Samoa

American Samoa is an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the South Pacific Ocean, southeast of Samoa. American Samoa consists of five main islands and two coral atolls.
American Samoa consists of five main islands and two coral atolls. The largest and most populous island is Tutuila, with the Manuʻa Islands, Rose Atoll, and Swains Island also included in the territory. American Samoa is part of the Samoan Islands chain, located west of the Cook Islands, north of Tonga, and some 300 miles (500 km) south of Tokelau. To the west are the islands of the Wallis and Futuna group.
American Samoa is a vastly underrated tropical destination that will delight you with its magnificent mountain ridges, wonderfully peaceful bays, soporific villages, and some of the world's most remote, uncluttered and utterly beautiful reefs and beaches. Once you land on the main island, Tutuila, it takes very little effort to look beyond the imported Americana of its main settlement, Pago Pago, to the shadows cast by the spectacular peaks crowding around the deep water harbor, the forest-lined roads switch backing over isolated mountain passes, and palm-shaded beaches that paradoxically empty the mind but fill the imagination. The locals also help you to acclimatize to this relaxing habitat by encouraging you to sing along to their favorite tunes on the crowded island buses, welcoming you repeatedly in the streets, and spinning out traditional stories on long, humid evenings.
