The Stone House faces south over a tranquil seawater cove with uninterrupted views to 14th century Rossbrin Castle and then out to Roaring Water Bay and Carberry's 100 isles. Located on THE WILD ATLANTIC WAY. Set in its own grounds and frontline to the sea on 2 acres the house is furnished to a very high standard with a contemporary scheme and sleeps six comfortably. It is perfect for a relaxing holiday and if you are on a first visit to Ireland the perfect base for touring. The house is spacious, light and well equipped. Schull is 5km away with its pretty shops and delis and of course lovely little pubs and great food. Local golf courses at Bantry and Skibbereen. The area is well served with gourmet restaurants as well as numerous cafes, some at wonderful beauty spots. Schull in the summer months is renowned for its sailing regattas, festivals and seafood. It is possible to moor a boat in Rossbrin cove which you can view from the house. Rossbrin Cove is an easy one and half hours drive from Cork city. How do you move a 762-ton historic mansion? Very carefully! The Harriet F. Rees House underwent an amazing relocation early this month and it is believed to be the heaviest residential structure moved in U.S. History. The three-story 762-ton Chicago landmark traveled one city block (600 feet) from 2110 S. Prairie Avenue to its new location at 2017 S. Prairie Avenue to make way for the planned McCormick Place Entertainment District. The brick and limestone mansion completed its journey on November 11-12, 2014. It's brick coach house was moved on Oct. 1, 2014. Check out the excitement of this historic move on this time lapse video! It is truly an amazing engineering feat!

Historic Belleview Biltmore Hotel Moved
Part of the 120-year-old structure will be carted a mere 320-feet to a new foundation.
Most of the hotel was taken down over the years because it was crumbling and coming apart.
JMC Development and Wolfe House Building and Movers are overseeing the daunting task.“Relocation of 120-year old Belleview Biltmore Hotel’s saved 38,000 square feet, containing the historic hotel’s lobby and 35 guest rooms, will roll on 47 computerized carts, to its new foundation and will become the longest continuously operating Henry B. Plant-built hotel when renovations are completed by mid-2018,” the companies said in a press release.
Condos, townhomes and carriage homes are planned for the site. The existing section of the hotel will be used for a boutique hotel.

Mysterious Abandoned Stone House at Lake Takanassee Long Branch NJ Elberon Ross Lake

Long Branch, NJ is full of historical treasures if you know where to look. Take, for instance, the small island house in Ross Lake, the western part of Takanassee Lake. This house sits across from Monmouth University off Norwood Avenue in the Elberon section of the town. It’s just the skeleton of a two-room stone house with a fireplace. The land around this part of the lake used to be Woolley Farm and is split down the middle by the Whale Pond Brook. Owen Woolley sold 30 acres of farmland to a Dr. Dennis for $54,000 in 1886, according to The New York Times. Dr. Dennis then sold the property to P. Sanford Ross of Newark, New Jersey 10 years later in 1896.
The stones used to build this house are the same as old houses on the grounds of Monmouth University, which is considered part of West Long Branch. However, it was never owned by Monmouth University, or the famous Shadow Lawn estate that preceded the university.

House Moved Down Skagit River (Long)
A 100-year-old farmhouse was lifted from a property in Mount Vernon last week, then loaded onto a barge in Conway, south of Mount Vernon, this morning. The farmhouse and barge were expected to travel to Port Townsend today, but because of the incoming storms, the moving company (out of Everett, Washington) secured the barge near Seattle and will finish the trip next week, after the storms pass.
Little Stone House in the Fonthill Woods
The Little Stone House is an old dwelling nestled within the 70 acres of Henry Chapman Mercer's Fonthill--his castle like poured concrete home built between 1908-12 in Doylestown, PA. The little house dates to between 1755-65, and has been neglected for decades and left abandoned. A group of community-minded people have formed with hopes of cleaning up & restoring this gem in the woods to its former dignity. Visit for info.
