Gibraltar is a tiny British territory located on the southern tip of Spain just 14 km north of Morocco.
It is dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar and is commonly known as, The Rock.
We took a drive down from Marbella Spain to see this iconic landmark and to enjoy a little slice of Britain in the far south of Europe. We started with a Gibraltar Street walk from Spain to cross the border into the British territory of Gibraltar.
Our first stop was the top of the rock observation deck that offered stunning panoramic views of Gibraltar. We not only saw Gibraltar, but we saw across straight of Gibraltar to Morocco in Africa and Spain’s Costa del Sol. It is truly spectacular. But the star attraction is definitely the rock of Gibraltar itself.
One of the star attractions of Gibraltar is the Ape’s Den where you’ll find a group of monkeys who have decided to call this place home at the cable car’s mid-station. But the Gibraltar monkeys are everywhere. Legend has it that as long as the macaques inhabit Gibraltar, the British will remain.
The monkeys were so important to the British, that they were placed under the armies protection and Winston Churchill even ordered more monkeys from Morocco when their numbers were on the decline. They can be very feisty though so make sure to keep your distance.
The Skywalk is a glass walking dangling 340 meters above sea level. It offers panoramic views of three countries and two continents and is said to be able to withstand the weight of 5 asian elephants.
It’s an amazing hike through the rock of Gibraltar and we followed the rocky trails from one attraction to another. Gibraltar was heavily fortified and there are plenty of ruins, guard stations and old lookouts to explore.

What to do in Gibraltar? Especially when you have one day in Gibraltar? Luckily Gibraltar is a small area, only 6 square kilometers, so you can visit it easily. Gibrlatar is located in the south of Spain, but it is a British teritory, so you will have an interesting experience. Gibraltar's main attraction is the Rock of Gibraltar, which offers a lot of sightseeing! Caves, viewpoints, history and of course the famous Gibraltar monkeys. The only wild monkey population in Europe!
GIBRALTAR | The Best Day Trip From Malaga, Spain
Gibraltar is a British territory, a 2 hour drive from Malaga, Spain. Gibraltar is famous for its military forts hidden within the Rock of Gibraltar, a nearly 1,400 ft tall limestone ridge jutting up from the Mediterranean sea. After going through border control and getting our passports stamped, we ate a full english breakfast and hiked to the top of The Rock. Although we took the road up to the top, we hiked down the Mediterranean steps with some of the sketchiest stairs we have ever seen.

Best Things To Do In Gibraltar For A Weekend Away
Dominated by The Rock Gibraltar has a surprising amount to see and do. Join our guide for the BEST things to do in Gibraltar on a weekend break.
We visit the Marina with a back drop of luxury apartments and yachts. Check out the history and architecture in the main city. Spend the night at the famous Rock Hotel, frequented by Royalty, politicians and famous faces. Hop on a bus to Europa point to catch a glimpse of North Africa. Take the 6 minute ride up to the top of the Rock, to be welcomed by the barbary macaque monkeys, before climbing down inside St Michael's Cave for eerie views of the stunning stalagmites. Finally we end our day walking over the 71 m high suspension bridge with great views of Gibraltar Bay.

⛵ Over the past 18 months we've spent a lot of time at the Queensway Quay Marina in Gibraltar, living aboard our Leopard 45 catamaran. During that time we explored in and around the Rock of Gibraltar as much a possible, finding abandoned ruins, forgotten tunnels and hidden gems. From our experience, I've curated a list of 10 of the more unique and usual things we think are worth doing in Gibraltar. ????????

Gibraltar Travel Guide | Top Three Things To See!
Take a day trip to the third smallest country in the world (that’s up for debate depending on what site you are on) but it’s tiny so it’s fun to say!
The first unique thing about Gibraltar is that you enter the country by either walking or driving across the airport runway!
Take the cable car to the top of the rock of Gibraltar where you will be greeted by the only wild monkeys living in Europe!
If you plan ahead you can do a tour through the hidden tunnels and caves inside the rock! Some of these are bunkers from WWII!
The southern most tip is scenic with a beautiful view of the rock as well as a mosque. You can see africa in the distance! If you have time plan out a ferry ride to Morocco!
For lunch we had fish and chips in the beautiful harbor area since Gibraltar is controlled by the British.
We loved our day trip here and we’re excited to get Gibraltar passport stamps on our way out. Enjoy!

How to cross the border:
I have lots of videos from being at the bottom of the Rock from all different angles, in this video we take a look at what it looks like to be up on the top of The Rock of Gibraltar and the incredible views you can get from the skywalk.
We were on the van tour which stops at several places, including St. Michaels Caves, and other overlooks. The tour was amazing and I highly recommend it. Our tour guide was Chris and I highly recommend him! If you would like his contact information let me know, and I will get it to you.
