Brunei Darussalam is a tiny sultanate in the north of the island of Borneo located on the shores of the South China Sea and is surrounded by the Malayan federal states of Sabah and Sarawak. The capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, is like something from an exotic fantasy.
The splendour of the mosque of Sultan Omar Ali Saiffudin is a captivating sight. This Islamic landmark is also a symbol of great wealth and was built in 1958 and was named after the father of the present sultan. Snow white Italian Carrara marble was used as building material, with granite from Shanghai. It commemorates the founder of modern Brunei.
On a classic longboat powered by outboard motor, we travel on the Brunei River and are soon surrounded by mangrove brush. Tropical thunderstorms and monsoon rain create dense vegetation and the ensuing humidity produces lush flora.
At the junction of two muddy-grey waterways of the Brunei River is an historic location, Kampung Ayer, a water village. Each building and adjoining pathway is built on posts yet there is both an electricity and drinking water supply. Plants decorate the terraces, and TV aerials are everywhere and it has a population of around thirty thousand.
Brunei is a land that has almost lost its history while moving into modern times. It is a country that has grown amazingly wealthy since its gas has hissed and its oil has spluttered from deep below the ground. Liquid gold - Allah be praised!

After 10 years, I have returned to the country that I enjoyed THE LEAST in all of my travels… Brunei. It’s a tiny country on Borneo island, sandwiched in between Malaysia and Indonesia, and I was very nervous to go back. Why? Because my last video there was all about how much I hated it, and I was so worried that I would be thrown in jail by the government, or even yelled at by the locals…. But this time around, I went in with fresh eyes and a new perspective, and I really enjoyed it!!!
I met up with a local Bruneian friend from Instagram named Bryant, and he took me under his wing to show me his version of Brunei. And what we discovered will seriously blow your mind!!

Hey everyone! Welcome to our latest video where we take you on an exciting/scary trip to Brunei. This place has been in the news a lot, and we wanted to see what it's really like beyond what everyone talks about. So, we kicked off our adventure wanting to dive into the real Brunei - from its strict laws to its incredible wealth. It's a country that's caught between its rich traditions and some pretty tough rules. But what really blew us away was how friendly and welcoming the people are.
We got to check out the Sultan's massive palace, which is just mind-blowing with all its luxury. But it's not all about the glitz here; we also saw how the country takes care of its people, with free schooling and healthcare, which is pretty awesome. Our journey took us through bustling markets where everything's super cheap, beautiful mosques covered in gold, and even into the lives of the locals who invited us to share a meal with them. It was these moments that really made our trip special.
We also got a peek into the less flashy side of Brunei, visiting a water village and seeing how people live in houses on stilts right over the water. It felt like stepping into a whole different world. This video is all about showing you the real Brunei - from the fancy bits to the simple, everyday life of its people. We're here to share our experiences, the cool places we've seen, the delicious food we've tried, and the amazing people we've met along the way.

दुनियाभर में लगभग जितने भी देश हैं, उनसे जुड़े कुछ न कुछ रोचक बाचें जरूर होती हैं। कुछ इसी तरह का देश है ब्रुनेई। इस देश की रोचक बातें आपको हैरान कर देंगी। ब्रुनेई एक मुस्लिम बहुल देश है, जहां आज भी महिलाओं को वोट देने का अधिकार नहीं दिया गया है। इंडोनेशिया के पास स्थित इस देश में आज भी राजतंत्र चलता है, यानी यहां का राजा का शासन चलता है। हालांकि, कई देशों की तरह ब्रुनेई भी अंग्रेजों का गुलाम रह चुका है, जिसे 1 जनवरी 1984 को स्वतंत्रता मिली थी।
ब्रुनेई एक ऐसा देश है, जहां घर की दीवारों पर पत्नी की तस्वीर लगाना एक रिवाज है। किसी-किसी घर में तो एक से ज्यादा पत्नियों की भी तस्वीरें देखने को मिल जाती हैं। इसके अलावा दीवार पर यहां के सुल्तान की तस्वीर भी दिख जाती है।
ब्रुनेई के सुल्तान को दुनिया के सबसे रईस राजाओं में से एक माना जाता है। साल 2008 में आई एक रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, उनकी संपत्ति करीब 1363 अरब रुपये बताई गई थी। उन्हें गाड़ियों का बहुत शौक है और यही वजह है कि उनके पास लगभग 7,000 कार हैं। उनकी निजी कार सोने से जड़ी हुई है। वह जिस महल में रहते हैं, उसे दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा आवासीय महल माना जाता है, जिसमें 1700 से भी ज्यादा कमरे हैं।
